I am was previously using Melonhead out of excitement as opposed to anguish today. My computer is finally getting the nice treatment it deserves, as I've just installed my new 1 TB hard drive and popped in a Windows XP reinstallation disc. I have the feeling that it will take bloody forever for setup, though, seeing as it's been five minutes and it's only 3% done. I am wicked excited to have a completely clean, like-new computer. It is going to be wonderful, and I will spend all of tonight reinstalling The Sims 1 and 2 and just generally having a nerdgasm over how much extra space I'll have at my disposal. This is, assuming that it doesn't take all night to reinstall the operating system. Slow computer is slow.
One thing that I am very much not looking forward to tonight is going to dinner / a play with my grandmother and my parents. I hate that I have no say in it whatsoever. My grandma says that it's up to me, whether I'd like to go or not, but my mom is pretty much forcing me. I would so much rather stay home and listen to Japanese music and squeal like a little girl reinstalling everything.
Oh, my new hard drive didn't take the first two times (aka, the computer didn't recognize that there was a drive), and I panicked a bit. Third time's the charm though, I guess, as it went about reinstalling XP on the drive like nothing happened. The drive didn't come with a manual at all, though, which I found a bit unnerving. Neither my dad nor I really knew how to make a hard drive the master, but we figured it out quickly enough. And my dad wanted to make my wonky old drive the slave, which I was very steadfast in making sure didn't happen. I really don't know where I am going with this but the point is that I am on the way to a new and improved, clean computer. :D It will just take a very, very long time to get there.
It's officially at 8%. Hooray. ;-;
