Today was a day of old friends.
My best friend from pre-k (to 8th grade) had a birthday party today. I met a couple new people, but I caught up with more old ones. Girls from our pre-k class and boys from church stuff and from the neighborhood. I never knew so many things about these people. Later on I saw my best friends from middle school when we planned a care package for one of the girls in the group that has lived in Spain this year (Cecilia). We talked about high school, college, boys, why people change, or why they stay the same. It's weird to miss out on so much with all these people. For some reason, I always assume things stay constant-- static-- without me there, but they never do. Almost everything I know about them is related in memory. I need a ziploc bag for their lives.
On a lighter note.. maybe a post-it.
I have a habit of saying unusual things to waitresses and hostesses at restaurants.
For example, when a waitress asked if my group was waiting for someone to fill the empty seat next to me, I answerred "no she's probably passed out in a dumpster somewhere, coked out..." referring to Mary Catherine.
On another occasion, while waiting for a table at outback, I decided to join the hostess in greeting the enterring and exitting guests-- outback style. I was unaware that she happened to be my neighbors ex-girlfriend and good friends with the girl throwing the afore mentioned birthday party. Oh small towns.
Hey look! A distraction!
My friend, Catie will be in Europe at the same time as the Parks trip, but only in Italy and she sees the same cities, but backwards, ending with the first city (Florence) the day before we get there. However, my friends Cecilia and Laura will be in Germany at the same time and will most likely take a short detour to catch up for a little while, since they won't be on a tour. I like that.
By our powers combined...
I am extroardinarily happy at this moment in time.
A tumble weed just blew by.
If you read that, snaps.
