Rape Victim Spots Alleged Attacker On TV Show
White Arrested For Rape After Spotted On "Blind Date"
VENTURA, Calif. -- A rape victim spotted her alleged attacker on the "Blind Date" television show and notified police.
Ulrick Kevin White, 31, of Santa Barbara, was arrested by Santa Barbara police detectives at the request of Ventura investigators. He was booked Tuesday for investigation of rape and kidnapping.
The 35-year-old alleged victim videotaped White's "Blind Date" appearance. White is a handyman and private security guard.
"Blind Date" show spokesman Joe Schloesser isn't giving details about the show's screening process for participants. "Blind Date," which is distributed by NBC Universal Domestic Television, is a half-hour reality show that brings singles together for an outing.
White had been sought since Sept. 6, 2003, when he allegedly approached the victim at a parking lot outside a bar as she was waiting for a cab.
During the rape, the victim dialed 911 on her cellular telephone. The alleged sexual assault was recorded by a California Highway Patrol dispatcher.
