My friend, Korean_Blue_Dragon_Yankii on
RDF requested a tutorial for
So, I wrote a tutorial for a similar icon.
1. make a new image, 100x100. The backround should be light blue, or whatever color you want to have as your main color in your icon.
If you want to use a texture for your backround, just open a texture and paste it onto the image and skip steps 2- .
2. pick a brush from your pallete, either one you made , or a default brush. I'll be using one of Seashore's default brushes. Just make a backround you like using your brushes. Mine looks liek this:
3. I'll be using
this gradient because i want to work with these colors. Use whatever gradient you want your colors to be. Anyways, apply your gradient to hardlight, 58%.
4. Now, open whatever picture you want your icon to focus on. I'll be using
this> picture from
mangastyle. Crop the focal point of your picture.
5. Desaturate your image, or greyscale it. Then, paste that same gradient you used in step 3 on to this picture and set the gradient layer to Color. Then, select the picture, and copy it.
6. Paste the picture on to the backround you made earlier, and move it so it's near the top right corner.
7. Add a border around your focal picture, and (if you want) around the outside of the whole icon. I used white (#FFFFFF) for both on a new layer.
Your image should look something like this:
8. Now, zoom in and select a part of your image that you want to be even more focused on. I'm going to be using hotaru's eyes. Select your choice with the selection tool, copy it, and paste it as a new layer. Then, move the piece down, so that it's overlapping the original picture, and the backround. It should look something like this:
9. Make a boarder around this new piece, the same color as your other boarders. So for me, that's white.
10. Make a new layer. Select an area on this new layer that your focal image is on (the thing you just pasted on, in the corner of the other picture), and fill it with white. If you want this selection to be darker, set it to Grain Extract, 100%. if you want it lighter, set it to Soft Light, 100%.
11. Its text time! Here were the settings that I used for the big text:
Font: Times New Roman
Size: 10
Color: white (#FFFFFF)
Notes: I positioned it right next to the focal image. ALL CAPS!
For the little text, I made a new layer and used these settings:
FOnt: Times New Roman
Size: 2
Color: White (#FFFFFF)
Notes: These are much longer than the word, POWER, from before. I'm actually just writing random things I hear right now. For instance, the first text line says "this heart beats for you," but each letter has a space bwetween eachother, and there are two spaces between words.
You should have something like this:
Now, you can stop there, or add one more tiny thing.
12. Copy
this image, and paste it on your icon. Move it down so that you can only see the top part, before it gets into the bigger part of the film. Then set that layer to Brun, and adjust the opacity to your liking. :]
