Recent Libertarian release to all those who say getting out of Iraq NOW is a bad idea:
because "Iraq will deteriorate into mass chaos"??
because "we should stay and get other countries to fight with us"??
because the Bush admin. "is too committed"??
1. Iraq needs a story. Every great country has a story. American anscestors came here in quest of religious freedom and won against English Parliament. The U.S. Consitution was created and their forefathers prevailed. If the U.S. backed out now, Iraq would have a story - the U.S. came here, cleaned out the bastard baathists who've been in power for 50 years, took off when it got too hot and now we can rule ourselves and sell our own damn oil. We won. Woohoo. And if that story doesn't work and mass chaos happens - at least the U.S. will get their own closure, instead of dragging this on to an inevitable "U.S. victory" likely to end up in Iraqi chaos anyway. Remember, the U.S. started this war - THEY are the ones who need the closure. The majority of Iraqis are quickly becoming very unhappy with our work there. It's not exactly how they thought it was going to be. They've already questioned the "constitution" that the U.S. came up with...even Iran, a longtime enemy of Iraq, is sending hired guns to fight against the U.S....a long time enemy of Iraq fighting for Iraq. Chaos or no chaos, the U.S. should LEAVE. Iraqis are entitled to their own great story - and the facts still remain:
a. There are no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
b. Bush stopped OPEC's campaign for the euro by seizing geo-strategic control over Iraq's oil reserves.
c. Saddam has been captured and the most important Baathists are almost 100% gone.
Let the Shiites and the Kurds duke this out - it's their land. Democracy will most likely not work in any middle eastern country, when forced. To force it is begging for failure - as puppet democratic governments have failed in the past. The U.S. needs to count their losses and bail out.
2. No countries are going to join this war. There are already countries backing out, for crying out loud. No diplomatic, Carter-esque, well-loved American leader is going to bring other countries "to the light". The U.S. is scarred for life, with nothing left to lose and certainly nothing to gain - especially in the eyes of foreigners. Okay, so maybe the U.S. has a hundred thousand+ troops to lose - and more billions of dollars - and whatever shreds of governmental dignity that are left. And after we lose all that, maybe we'll gain the satisfaction of instilling a puppet democratic gov't in Iraq that will most-likely fail. Not an even trade off if you ask me.
3. Committment to this war is not a reason to stay there, given all the setbacks (monetary & otherwise) and recent events. Rick you're right - vote him the FUCK OUT. But get the hell out of Iraq, while you're at it. Keep troops there to stabilize the oil fields and keep OPEC on its toes, but no more holy-war!! The "Almighty" is no better than "Allah" and no crucifix is going to keep terrorist vampires away. Instead of holding fast to your "commitment" - build up your HOME defense and get ready for more terrorism - because Iraq or not - it's going to happen. Better to spend the money on that, then rebuild a country that harbors terrorists.
hahahahahahaah - so funny.
