Rainy day post

Aw, you guys are so sweet. I heart my flist. I just saw some posts mentioning the California storms and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy that you guys thought of us West Coasters.

Don't worry about me, though. My area is only getting some extra rain and a little wind. Nothing too bad at all. And I got rain boots for Christmas so I'm happy I get to wear them. (is that a little materialistic? *blush*)

I've watched a lot of movies recently and feel like reviewing them. Here goes:

First, the one that's generating so much Oscar buzz, Atonement. I love Kiera Knightly so I had high hopes for this one. They were... sorta met. The beginning of the film is fantastic, utterly perfect, but then I liked it less and less and by the end I was frustrated. I haven't read the book but I'm thinking it maybe suffered from OotP Syndrome--too much story, not enough time. Kiera Knightly, though, was fantastic. As always.
Final Grade: B

Saw Juno a couple weeks back, liked that very much. I don't think it lives up to the Little Miss Sunshine comparison because that movie was utter perfection but still, Juno was good. CJ from The West Wing and that kid from Superbad were in it so you know it couldn't have been bad.
Final Grade: A-

We rented Once. That movie has some TRULY amazing songs in it. It was an adorable film and I was really rooting for all the characters. This one exceeded expectations. We keep talking about it, discussing the motivations and whatnot, and I was left humming the songs. Watch it.
Final Grade: A

I also saw Hairspray, which was very enjoyable. Not sure why, but I adored Amanda Bynes in that role. And it was another CJ film! Lordy, I love her. This movie was fun. Nothing astounding, but fun nonetheless.
Final Grade: B+

I watched Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure as well. Um. Well. Ididntlikeitatallpleasedonthateme. I'm sorry, that movie was not good. Billy the Kid and Socrates were amusing and the whole Mom/Missy thing inspired giggles but other that that? Nothing. I was expecting something similar to Dogma and I got some sort of extended SNL clip. Twas most disappointing.
Final Grade: D
