Dear Yulegoat - 2016 Edition

Oct 03, 2016 10:08

Hello, fellow Yulegoat! Thank you again for volunteering for this momentous undertaking. I'm so glad that we were paired up, and I am grateful that you've gifted me with your talent and time this yuletide. You are fantastic and a big damned hero in my eyes. Many cheers!

In general: I'm really up for anything. I mean, I read the Care Bears BDSM fic and was more amused than squicked. Death!fic can be okay, fluffy slice of life fic can be okay. This year I'm leaning toward a more fluffy, family-oriented holiday theme, just because it's been a tough year for me. No worries if that doesn't float your boat! My main concern is that you treat the characters right and write them a story that fits with their canon. I just ask for good fic, for the characters to be loved and treated well, and for you to have fun with this. Thank you for my wonderful gift, Yuletide Wonderperson. The fact that you signed up for one of my fandoms makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, and I love sharing this fandom with you.

So, in terms of fandoms:

Young Wizards:  Ronan, Carmela.

International chocolate syndicate. In Games Wizards Play, Carmela and Ronan finally form the unholy chocolate 'trading' alliance. Please, tell me more about this. Past, present, future. Just give me more snark and more awesomeness and the universe vs. the International Chocolate Syndicate. I love Carmela and her love of words, her talent for linguistics, her sense of self and her atomic curling iron. Ronan is my woobie, all snarky and broken and so capable and awesome and dark and brooding. Put them together, add some chocolate, and I see great things. Or maybe just lots of things blowing up. Pure adventure here!

Dark is Rising: Merriman Lyon

I make my living studying King Arthur. The line that made me keep reading the Dark is Rising Sequence (because, let's be honest, Over Sea, Under Stone is not the most exciting book) was Barney's revelation of Merry Lyon to Merlin. I've always wanted to know more about Merriman, whether it's his connection to Arthur, his infinite number of lives he's hand to create, or even his connection to the Drews. I would love to see this mystical figure humanized -- how he's loved and lost and kept on going. Kinda like Jack Harkness in Doctor Who/Torchwood. I'd really like some character development here, and if Merriman interacts with some old friends (Arthur, the Drews, etc.), bonus points for me! Ideas: Merriman reflecting on his life, Merriman harrassing some junior scholar at Oxford who gets Arthur *wrong,* Merriman carefully molding the Drews into the heroes he knows they will be.

Anne of Green Gables: Anne

Anne is me and I am Anne. Seriously: impulsive red-head with temper. I didn't gel with any characters until I met Anne about the age of eight. I love her scraps and her scrapes and her impulsive mishaps. I love her in every shape and form: young girl, young bride, mother, and matron. I just want to see the Anne that inspired me so many years ago, with her quick thinking and not-quite-thinking-through, her temper and her sense of humor, and her ability to (eventually) laugh at herself. Whether it's Marilla, or Gilbert, or Diana, or even Susan Baker bailing her out of her scrap, I just want to see more of Anne's Anne-ish adventures of being Anne.
