Dear Yulegoat - 2014 edition

Oct 21, 2014 22:13

Hello, fellow Yulegoat! Thank you again for volunteering for this momentous undertaking. I'm so glad that we were paired up, and I am grateful that you've gifted me with your talent and time this yuletide. You are fantastic and a big damned hero in my eyes. Many cheers!

In general: I'm really up for anything. I mean, I read the Care Bears BDSM fic and was more amused than squicked. Death!fic can be okay, fluffy slice of life fic can be okay. This year I'm leaning toward a more fluffy, family-oriented holiday theme, just because it's been a tough year for me. No worries if that doesn't float your boat! My main concern is that you treat the characters right and write them a story that fits with their canon. I just ask for good fic, for the characters to be loved and treated well, and for you to have fun with this. Thank you for my wonderful gift, Yuletide Wonderperson. The fact that you signed up for one of my fandoms makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, and I love sharing this fandom with you.

So, in terms of fandoms:

Young Wizards: Carmela, Ronan, Nita, Kit

I love Carmela and her snark and her attitude and her fearlessness. I love Ronan and his emo-pain and his inferiority complex and his snark. Throw them together, and you can have so much deadpan fun, especially if it's at the expense of Kit and Nita. Set this anywhere in the book series, or even beyond the book series. I would just love to see some light, fluffy, holiday interactions that bring about some cross-cultural snarking about Irish vs. Yank traditions (and if you can bring in Carmela's Hispanic upbringing/possible traditions/Latina pride, even better!). The two characters are fantastic that I want to see them interact together forever, uniting as a platonic or non-platonic unholy duo against Kit and Nita in their fledgling romance.

Emelan: Tris

I think Tammy Pierce stole Tris from my brain, or at least my childhood. Though I was never as unloved as Tris, I can definitely identify with her in many ways. I love the thought of this prickly girl with a marshmallow core, and I'd love to see her interacting with her newfound family. How is she amazed by it on a daily basis. How little does she take it for granted. How much does she expect it all to end someday, because Tris can't have nice things like families. I don't care who she interacts with as long as it's someone she loves and loves her in return, because I think she needs a family who loves and appreciates her for the wonderful person she is. I would prefer happier Tris with her newfound family, rather than unloved Tris with the Chandlers.

Dark is Rising: Bran

Bran, Wales, growing up. Bonus for Will helping Bran fill the loneliness inside. Even more bonus if Bran remembers the aftermath of Silver on the Tree. :) One of the reasons why I love Bran is because he's an outcast both in terms of where he's growing up (rural Wales) and in terms of Time. The valleys around Cader Idris are isolated and lonely, and I'd love to know what it was like for Bran to grow up there, especially not quite fitting in. Did he have some sense of Destiny or feel even more out of place than most adolescents? Why did he go out of his way to affect such an 'outsider' persona? Would there have been a difference if Bran had grown up in another place/time/with other people and does he think about that? I'm not asking for an AU, or even something pre/post series. I'd love to see some kind of introspection on Bran's part -- or even from Owen or John's part -- on this strange child they've all raised. I'm up for slash (Will/Bran) or gen fic, as long as it focuses on Bran in some way.
