Summer Anime Update

Jul 13, 2010 20:59

so I've watch the first ep of just about everything this side if Mitsudomoe. Here's what I'm sticking with.

Shows Picked up this season (in order of interest):
1st pick: Occult Academy: all around a great looking show so far. mixes supernatural action with comedy, and is really well animated and has a strong story.
2nd pick: Highschool of the Dead: while its probably doesn't have the best characters, I'm still liking the concept. well animated and gory.
3rd pick: The Legend of Legendary Hero's: not off to the fast pace start i would have liked to see, but the show has great potential i think. hoping for a strong story here
4th pick: Shiki: initially not on my radar at all, Shiki looks to be a horror mystery anime about vampires. It looks good so far, though its kinda odd having the first eps main character *spoiler* dead by the end of it.
5th pick: Ookami San: an action comedy about a Tsun-dere girl and a guy who cant handle people looking at him. a lot of the stories are based on fairy tales, and sometimes plain stupidity. should be mindless fun if nothing else.
6th pick: Amagami SS: Romance Comedy of the season. Honestly, the producers said they were doing this show Omnibus style, so the anime will restart to go through all the possible arcs... interesting enough for me to tag along and see how they decide to do it.

Shows Dropped:
Mitsudomoe: not coming close to this show.
Shukufuku no Campanella: god this show was slow and pointless.
Kuroshitsuji II: I'd rather watch Hayate: the Combat Bulter. (title translates to Black Butler, along the lines of a butler of the dark arts. It's a girls show really...)
Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan: no interest
Strike Witches II: no interest

Returning Line Up:
1) K-On: I just watched an episode that made me laugh for a good 5 minutes... over strawberries.
2) Giant Killing: A Sports anime about an underdog Soccer team. Really, just filling in the sports gap left by Ookiku Furikabutte, a baseball anime.
3) Fairy Tale: This show reminds me so much of One Piece, but with more magic, than Pirates. Also like One Piece, as fans will tell you, I find it so entertaining, but i don't really know why...

Shows I'm going to miss from last season
1) Working!!: I just rewatched this again for the 2nd time, and its still funny. Jason, you need to see this one.
2) Angel Beats: This was a really well done and thoughtful drama series. It has one of the best stories I've seen in a long time.
3) Durarara: A great action/adventure series that has some of this best cliffhangers this side of Code Geass.
