We didn’t run last week, so here is the second session. Once again I skimmed over a lot of the spells that they used and other things for expedience.

Session 2:
Wednesday 14th of June 2006, Melbourne Australia

We left the cabal last session sitting down to dinner at sunset, when they all realised that if the spell that was raising the zombies was going to happen again, it would happen tonight. They left their casserole cooling on the kitchen table and quickly made their way towards the Melbourne cemetery, worried that perhaps tonight the dead would rise there.

Ciardha cursed as he could not get his familiar to scout out ahead of them, during sunrise and sunset the fruit bat would feed with others of its kind.

Using Prime Sight, Lilith claimed that as they entered the graveyard that the spell’s resonance was there but it was only affecting three targets. Intervention also confirmed this, and they slowly made their way after the resonance, after Auravia made sure a couple wasn’t going towards a horrible end, using Fate Sight and discovered that there was something important happening, to do with them but was not sure what.

After entering an unmarked part of the cemetery the four mages found three open graves, one contained two coffins. They also worked out that this section was unhallowed, the place where murders and criminals were buried long in the past. They reasoned the spell could only effect the unhallowed dead.

Looking into the past, Auravia confirmed that the four undead had made their way towards the museum. Ever paranoid Lilith proclaimed that the girls (Intervention and Herself) would go to Big W before it closed to get some supplies (baseball bats) while the boys (Aurvia and Ciardha) would go ahead.

In the superstore Lilith and Intervention noticed a female wearing staff outfit was in the sport section staring at the basketballs. Both noticing an absolute lack of something around her in her aura, Lilith confronted her asking if she was alright.

She turned around, her face rotting and her wrists gushing blood onto the floor and screamed at them to leave, before she faded into nothing. The blood seeping into the floor into nothingness. They both felt immense fear overcome them but were about to keep coherent.

Lilith kneeled down to the floor, looking for the blood, before she screamed as a face came out of the floor and tried to grab her. They left quickly, with several baseball bats and balls, reasoning that it must have been a ghost and the chalice of Arista was weakening the barrier between the living and the dead.

Power across the city went out as a storm began, and they made their way into the museum which had been broken into, with the torn apart body of a security guard at the door. Following the trail of blood to the room where the chalice was on display they found more bodies and two of the zombies, one letting blood and flesh drop into the chalice, the second guarding the door.

The fight only lasted a few seconds, as the Zombie took the chalice to his lips and drank deeply. But at the same time many of their spells stopped working, as Joseph Mills, the museum curator walked into the fight in horror and shock. Disbelief is a powerful thing, they realised.

The Zombie who had drunk from the chalice stumbled backwards, prime flames and injured, as it turned into Arista in front of their eyes. He said a few words in Latin “Stop, I am not your enemy. Wait, this is wrong. I feel so cold.” Then he fell over dead.

The spell unravelled, and they realised that the spell inside the Chalice was flawed. They also noticed that Joseph Mills was having a heart attack. Intervention and Lilith saw to him, also realising when he came back he was different; he had the touch of the abyss on him. He had awakened.

They left the scene quickly, taking the now un-magical Chalice (which no longer read Atlantean runes, simply Latin) and Joseph.

When they returned to their apartment they explained to Joseph what had happened, and from his description they reasoned he was a Moros. He left saying he had many things to think about.

Thursday the 15th of June, 2005 Melbourne Australia
The next morning on the news they discovered he had killed himself, claiming he killed the guards and had went back to the scene of the crime later that night. Auravia was not convinced he had really killed himself, but would have to look into it later.

A man wearing all black and a cawboy hat and sword kane (well once he realised he was not alone it was a sword cane) walked right into their cabal, and was shocked to find them there as much as they were to find him simply walking in.

A few heated words were exchanged. He claimed this was his place and they claimed it was there. He backed down quickly, saying he had many more places to harvest mana from and this one matterd little to him. As he left they asked his shadow name, and he simply replied with Scabarello. He was very enigmatic and they were unsure if where his aleginces lied, but were pretty sure he wasn't an apostate from how he acted.

Receiving another tip from the computer, an address in Clayton, they made their way to the apparent lodgings of one of the other mages in the cabal that they now inhabited.

Intervention met sleepwalker (she was sure from his aura) called Joe, who had drawn three houses on the sidewalk and wrote under it “Can you see the Paradox?” (his answer was, when you have a house your not happy with it, when you don’t have one all you want is one). He did not appear to have much knowledge of what he really was. He told her that the skateboard kid who she was asking about was killed a year ago in the streets, the people just stopped like they were controlled by something and turned on him. Thirty people just tore him apart, he claimed. And the thing that did it was still watching, and it was watching them. He said he hadn't been the same since that night, he could see things, dark things, stalking the streets at night.

They left Joe and went into the now empty share-house that they had been given the address too and found the skateboard kids collection of books on ancient greek myths and a Mysterium Grimoire. Auravia confirmed with time magic that he had vanished a year ago.

And that was the end of the session, and the first story. I got the idea for Joe, the homeless sleepwalker who sees things after I saw a guy in the city with exactly the same picture and question under it. I never asked the guy what he meant by it, as it just freaked me out.
