Not so dytopian future

For those of you who were wondered what happened to me after I became rather homeless and never reappeared in Calgary...

I got an apartment in Surrey not too far from my old place. New floors, new paint, new appliances... for about $200 less than the other places I was looking at so altogether not too shabby. I also took my old cat with me: Eena (the one with no tail). She's a lot healthier too and a lot happier now that she has someone to actually take care of her.

I'm in school now. John Casablanca's Institute for Makeup Artistry. Sounds rather lame but what I'm really looking to get into is the Special Effects end of things. It starts out with your basic day/evening makeup, bridal hair and makeup, then moves on to more exciting projects: stage makeup, aging with latex, injury simulation and full on prosthetics. They have a masters in Prosthetics course as well that deals with animatronics and creature suits. It's pretty exciting stuff. I start July 23.

I am now the Manager of all of Body Mods. The only ones above me are the owners and the Office Manager who is on the same level as me, but she just deals with paperwork, payroll etc. Oh and we got a wicked health care plan too.

I'm going out a lot more now. Local shows, various club nights and the like. I met a boy and now he won't leave me alone. Even though I already told him I'd rather eat broken glass than date him. It's very irritating. I have no urge to date while I'm in school. I'll be a full time student as well as working 40 hours a week and I just don't want to deal with that kind of bullshit.

Beyond that I'm just reading a lot. I went on a giant Neil Gaiman binge and I now own just about everything he's ever written/ have read the things I don't own. I just finished Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake and reread William Gibson's Neuromancer. I need something new. Dytopian futures are always nice. As are Lovecraftian horror. Any recommendations?
