Having spoken with Nate, and an adult Parker yesterday, and having had time to calm down and think, Sophie was now convinced this didn't have to be a disaster, really. She simply had to keep young Parker from meeting older Parker, and Nate from finding a reason to go to the theater. Simple, really.

The autumn digital art was still on display, and ( Read more... )

Triela was half-surprised that she managed to make it through the door before Rico. She'd managed to sneak the girl away from her handler and then mentioned that there was an art gallery. Given the way that Rico had started bouncing, well, yeah, Triela was surprised the other girl hadn't slammed through the door as soon as they'd gotten near the building.

"So this is the art gallery," she explained to her companion. Which wasn't necessary, but made her grin.

You did not run in an art museum. You didn't run you didn't run you didn't run....

Rico was practically vibrating with the effort to hold still and Be Good. Lacking Jean, Triela outranked her, and Rico always obeyed. Mostly.

"It makes me shivery," she giggled, carefully tucking her hands into her pockets as she looked at a picture. "I wish we could have brought Claes, I think she'd like an outing like this."

"You mean you think she would have been grumpy," Triela grinned. Though she wouldn't have minded a visit from her roommate.

"Besides, this way you have something that's just for you."

"She's only grumpy if you bother her!" Rico protested loyally. Which, okay, was most of the time, but still.

"And you're here too, so it's for both of us."

"But I can come by whenever I want," Triela grinned. She watched Rico happily. The girl had a glow about her.

"So this is your special treat for visiting."

Well, that and the fact that Triela planned to figure out what Rico's favorite piece was and get it for her. But that was a surprise.

"Whenever you want? Really?" Rico tilted her head, awed at the idea that clearly hadn't occurred to her before. "That's right, Hilshire is home with us, so you don't have to ask his permission."

She looked at Triela, eyes wide. "Don't you miss having your Handler with you? I would miss Jean if he were gone."

"Sometimes," Triela admitted. Rico would understand part of that. But not all. Her meds were too high for her to understand the strange air of relief. The weird relaxation from not being around your hanlder all the time.

"But it means I can do a lot more stuff." She grinned. "Besides, you know me. I've always been pretty independent."

Well. Relatively speaking.

"You are," Rico admitted, attention wandering back to the artwork now that her world had been reassured. If Triela hadn't missed Hilshire, it might have caused a meltdown. "And you speak tons of languages, and can get out the worst blood stains, and can quote the Shakespeare. I can't do any of that."

"You can do plenty of other things," Triela assured her. "You've got a better eye for art, for one thing."

"Do I? I just love the way that paintings and sculptures and things make me feel all shivery inside when I look at them," Rico said simply, admiring another piece. "It's like having a special secret."

"Well, I won't tell anyone, if you won't."

Triela stood back a little bit, watching Rico's face with more intensity than the paintings.
