"You know what's the worst part? That I actually thought I could trust you"
"It's not like I planned on it", she says.
"Oh, please" I dismiss her statement --her lie-- and turn to leave, but she stops me. She holds my hand and turns me around. I must have a somewhat angry look because she immediately lets go of my hand and composes herself.
"I-", she's looking down at the wooden floor. "I don't want you to leave". She lifts her head and now she's looking at me and her gaze is so strong, so determined. "I don't want you to walk away from this".
And now am staring at her, disbelief on my face. I wonder if she's serious because, if she is, then she is so wrong. "There's nothing to walk away from", I tell her. I see her trying to understand what I mean, what I'm trying to tell her. She shifts between confusion and anger, which only makes me more resentful. "See, you left. You were the one who left without explanation; you-", I can't do this. I can't start a fight with her because I know it'll hurt too much and I'm done being hurt. I'm done with her. "So, there's nothing to walk away from".
I lock my eyes with hers for a second, and I don't know if what I want to say is goodbye or that I hate her.
And then, I turn to leave.
