Specific fic: Nathan using advanced medical technique
I can't remember who was sick, but it was probably Ezra...it's usually Ez. I believe that they had some kind of illness that made it difficult or impossible for them to breathe.
Nathan, I believe on advice from a doctor he exchanges letters with back East, uses a medical technique advanced for the time. I THINK it was a primitive version of intubated assisted breathing, creating a tube to go down his throat, fitted to a bellows that was pumped by hand. He may also have improvised an IV after making a needle with the right size bore.
It was gen, maybe a little hint of het, and I think the focus was mainly on Nathan treating the patient, although I seem to remember that it was a team fic with focus on the other members too.
