Looking for an OW fic
The story is focused on Ezra, and involves an older African American lady that had pretty much raised him coming in to town with a family that she works for. I believe there are two children and their parents end up dead at the beginning of the story. The kids run away when they learn the woman (from Ezra's past) can't keep them because she's black and they're white. In the end you find out that she had been on Ezra's uncle's plantation and her son was Ezra's cousin. We also find out that Ezra blamed himself for his cousin's (Ezra didn't know they were related) death even tho it was a mercy killing during the war. I thought I had this in my favorites but I just can't find it.
