Facings, gussets, gores.
Not good at geometry.
Measure twice, cut once.
Teacher did not explain how
I WOULD us this beyond school.
If I had know that,
I would have paid attention.
It takes me too long
To make a simple tunic.
Never thought I'd say: Math Rocks!
I am working on a tunic, but not the usual simple fold over style. I actually cut out the separate gores and sleeves from additional fabric. Of course it is because my linen blend shrunk down to 40" wide. But this gives me something to work from as I try to improve and make things with the correct skirt fullness and length, and correct sleeve length. Still struggling with neck facings (which I prefer to sewing down a narrow hem), when you are rushed you get the sides sew up so it's wearable, then the hems so you are not raggedy, and if I don't finish the neckline, I use bias tape or hide it under a scarf. Need to make a wimple to solve that little problem. But I think I can use this tunic as a pattern for my next project. Plus, I used up some old fabric from my stash so that is points for yardage and years! And finishing up the fiddly bits on my drape is more points. Yay for not needing anything new!
I will be up at 5:30am tomorrow for Investiture. It will be a very long day. Sleeping in on Sunday, nobody call me!
