Happy Belated Birthday to K! (12/14)
Happy Birthday to Beethoven. Thanks for all the music!
Belated Anniversary Greetings to my LJ (started on 12/9/08)and to all the friends I have made through it. I have learned so much about the world and how others live/work/celebrate and cope. I hope to add more friends and make better use of this resource.
Lastly, 14 years ago today my mother died. I came home from the Dickens Faire, and went to see her in her room, then downstairs to change for Gaskell's, came back to her and she had gone. It was as if she had waited for me. I had some other personal sadness going on at that time, and was already in a glum mood. People did not intrude upon me too much in my mourning the next day at Dickens, believing it was only for her. I believe that was an example of how our mothers still look after us, even when they are gone.
I added a black armband to the Gaskell ballgown that Saturday night (the one I'm wearing in the icon) and wore the full black on Sunday, and I think I did not dance at Fezziwig's that day. Many of my memories of her are now entwined with Christmas/Gaskells/DIckens. She would often say how she hated all the Christmas fuss. She would look happy though, after she'd had a Scotch and finished dinner and was in her usual chair watching us open gifts.
But I wish I had thought to take a lock of her hair as a remembrance.
