ok, so the other day, we noticed micki was feeling a little under the weather. she was vomiting a lot for like a week, and one day, she finally just quit pretty much everything but breathing. she stopped eating and drinking, and she was so weak she couldn't hold herelf up. we called our vet saturday and he gave us his cell number so we could call sunday, because he wasn't at his office, but sunday morning my grandma thought micki was doing a little better. then sunday afternoon, she tried jumping off the couch and she just fell because she couldn't hold herself up. i said "fuck this" because when grandma tried calling the vet, he didn't answer, and i started looking online for nearby animal hospitals. long story short, we took her to the animal referral center in appleton (which, btw is open 24/7 THANK GOD). they had to get fluids into her because she was so dehydrated, and they had to run a lot of tests and do x-rays and whatnot, and keep her there overnight. when the doctors called monday, they told us that she had all the symptoms that fit the description of addison's disease, which has to do with her adrenal glands (they basically shut down). her red blood cell level was up to 77%- which is usually fatal if 70%-80%- and her potassium level was so high that her heart could have stopped, and her other electrolytes were really out of wack. so basically, if we would have waited until monday to take her to the local vet, she probably would have died. cale and i went to pick her up tuesday evening and she's doing fine now.. she even lost a little weight! she's still moving a little slow, but she's really improving. the only downfall about her having the disease is she'll have to be on medications for the rest of her life, but i'm fine with that as long as she'll stay alive. on that note, the joseph and i are going to bed, because it's 5 in the fucking morning.
