"Remember, remember, the 5th of November." The key phrase of the V for Vendetta really says it all when it comes down to it. Every once in awhile, a film comes along and strikes you like a bolt of lightning and takes your breath away. A film is so powerful, truthful, frightening and memorable that you will never forget it; this is that film.
V for Vendetta is about many things, politics, terrorism, communism, revenge and truth.
There aren't many things this film doesn't touch upon and show you what could and maybe even will be. Sure these events circle a man who calls himself "V" who wears a mask and kills these politicians with the many knives he carries around with him. Sure he meets a girl named Evy who is saved by him, betrays him, and then believes in him. But the message is what seperates this film from others. That message that lasts forver, "what would people do to feel safe?" "What if the people gave up their rights for their own safety?" What then, would happen to the world we live in now?
The films style is dark, with bold colors and emotions. Laced with powerful images, the message is pounded into you, showing you these fears brought to life. One man has the courage and enough reason to try and end it, but he needs the people to believe in him over the government. So he blows up a small government building, then taps into the emergency government signal to tell the people what he believes is wrong with the country. He tells them, if they believe in him to all come out of their homes in one year on November the 5th. He then begins a series of acts to trigger what he wants to happen. But a girl name Evy is an unexpected surprise. She gets in the way, but shows "V" more than he had thought about and what really needs to happen. That maybe his vengeance isn't all that matters...
While I would love to say more, I really don't want to give too much away. You will need to see this film to know what makes this film so important and why you certainly will remember, remember, V for Vendetta.
