I love my kitty!
I'm glad I went with my instincts as far as adopting a kitty goes. Anastasia is a GREAT cat! She is just as her little shelter blurb said, "sweet and social." No hiding under the bed for this kitty! Windows are to look out of! Air conditioner ducts are to sniff! Birds and squirrels are to chitter at! Humans are to ask for pets from! The first thing she did when I got her home was to leap out of her carrier and look out the window. The shelter had her in a nice kitty enclosure, but she had no view of the outdoors. Now she can't get enough of watching trees, birds, squirrels, neighbors, UPS trucks, and so on.
My only regret is that old chestnut of "I wish I could have taken them all!" There were other cats - really terrific cats - at the shelter. I'm glad it's a no-kill. They will keep the cats until they find homes. They also have kid volunteers there for the summer who do things like read to the cats.
ARF, the shelter where I got Anastasia from, is waiving the adoption fee for adult cats this week and next. The kittens still get adopted far faster, though. Apparently Anastasia was waiting at the shelter for six months before I adopted her!
But all is well that ends well. Anastasia is queen of a new house and has a human servant to wait on her hand and foot. She sleeps in my bed and snuggles and purrs. She loves to be petted.
I will get more pictures of her soon!
