I thought I'd post a poll for your delectation.
Poll Gift Cards and Practical Gifts
For what it's worth, I love love LOVE gift cards, as long as they're to a store or service I actually use. And as for practical gifts - as long as they are not dreary, and not given by a romantic partner *g*. Socks are great! Plain white ones, not so much.
My aunt gave me two pairs of slipper-socks that are incredibly warm and fuzzy, and since I a)have perpetually cold feet and b) like to wear heavy moisturizer on my feet overnight, this gift RULES. Thanks auntie K! And they are stripy, not dreary. *g*
As for gift sets: LUSH is good, of course. And so is Bath and Body Works, etc. But those indescribably horrible packaged sets of cheap-o B-list celebrity fragrances like Shania Twain or Gloria Vanderbilt you get at the drugstore are EVIL. Pure unadulterated stenching EVIL. They are about the worst gift you could ever give me. Blech.
