Melancholy Bubble Gum

In my last post, I noted that Midwinter's Eve was supposed to be "poignant and melancholy" but smelled just like bubble gum. Does this mean it's the scent that lingers on the Drooble's wrappers that Alice Longbottom gives Neville? Because I think that's the only context I could use "melancholy" and "bubble gum" together without laughing.

But what Midwinter's Eve took away, The Peacock Queen giveth...this scent owns my soul. I must stockpile. *swoons*
