Darlings, first I have to thank you all for the comfort and the nice comments you gave me to my last entries! It feels wonderful to have friends like you and to know that I'm "understood" by you.

Today I really feel better - mostly because I spent the entire day with horses. So if you can stand more horse stories ...

Here we jolly go )

Oh dear, I'd so like to go with you to the Birkhof once! I know you'd enjoy it as much as I do. I didn't cry today in watching the horses, but a few times I really got goosepimpels. So much beauty and elegance, so much power and gentleness! It made me once again aware why I'm so fascinated and so much in love with horses.
And you know, it was really great to hear these people talk about my boy! As I came to the Birkhof in the afternoon, one of the girls was just doing the mares' stable (my former job - and I always get a bit sentimental when I'm there). She smiled a bit sadly at me and said: "I'm so sorry that you're taking Robin home today. You know, I was the one who did his box and mostly groomed him for Nicola. He's such a sweetie! And it's so touching: Whenever you come around and take him out, he's so happy! He's friendly and always up for a cuddle - I really, really like him and I'm sure I'll miss him very much."
The next one who told me he'd miss him was her colleague in the other stable. Aud if I'd know how much he likes becoming scraped on his chin? Yes, I do - it's one of my favourite places to cuddle him.
Another one of the girls in the stable was irritated because Renate named him "Robinchen" (little Robin - but it sounds like a girl's name). She raised one eyebrow and said firmly: "That's not a girl - Robin is a boy and a real great horse!"
It was the same girl who protected him even against me because I use to call him "Dicker" (thick one). Last week she heard me say so, looked at me and said rather severe: "Robin isn't thick. Robin is just in the right shape!"
It's so nice how fond of him they have become in such a short time! As I was last time scratching his forehead (another place where he likes it a lot) he lost a lot of his white hairs (he was just changing his coat from winter to summer) and I was joking: "Well, well - one day you'll lose your sign!" Nicola who heard that said immediately: "Oh no - it's so espeically nice!" (it definitely is though I always joke about. He's got a reversed question mark on his forehead and I often say: "It stands for the perplexity of his riders!"). Her boss Nicole in the meantime didn't like my announcement that we'll shorten his mane as soon as he's home. "Oh no, don't - it's so cute!" (Robin has got a rather funny mane: Just on the middle of his neck is a part where it falls to both sides). Only he looks even more cute with shorter hair - and younger, therefore we'll cut it tomorrow.
Julia who was riding him when Nicola wasn't there wondered today about me getting him parsley. "And you're sure he likes that?" she asked me sceptically. And then, as she saw that he indeed likes the stuff very much, she told me: "You should have said that he likes parsley. We'd got him some!" And as Thomas who stood behind her, joked "Max, it's good you take him home. My girls would have spoiled him rotten!", Julia immediately disagreed: "You can't spoil him rotten. He's too much of a gentleman."
Yet the cutest thing was Anna, Thomas four year old daughter. As we got Robin to our trailer, she was there on her mother's arm, looking rather sleepy. Yet as Robin passed along, she became awake and called: "Robin!" Nicola stopped - and Anna stretched her arm, patted Robin's nose and said, very seriously (for she is always a very serious young lady): "Auf Wiedersehen, Robin!" (it's a German greeting and means "Until we see us again").
