Heat, fires, flowers and spiders!

We had more hot weather yesterday. It was 40C by 10.40 am, and the temperature hovered in the high 30's for the rest of the day. Thankfully we've had a lovely morning with temperatures in the low 20's.

What a tragic thing to happen to that young woman. Dreadful.

It certainly was. To make it worse, the house she fled from was untouched by the fire. Can you imagine how the children she taught would feel? It would be such a blow to them.

Some of the fires have been brought under control, but others are still burning. I think about 6-8 houses have been burnt down in Dwellingup. Dwellingup had a huge fire back in 1961, and it's often referred to when comparing bushfires around here. It must be a nightmare for the older residents who lived through the first one.

You had a redback on your finger!!! Rather you than me! I'm OK looking at them, and squashing them, etc, but I don't know how well I'd handle having one of them actually ON me! I'm not spider phobic in the least, but I value my health when it comes to redbacks.

I Googled "Moonflower", and at first I couldn't find the same type of plant and flower as the one I've got. The one mainly pictured was like a morning glory type of flower. I thought perhaps the plant I had was just the name my Mum used, but I finally came across this one. http://cms.atics.co.uk/3/ahg.html It follows the progress of the plant in very good detail. Unfortunately, it takes a while for it to load, but it's worthwhile when it has!
