Australia Day
I'll be away from LJ for a day.
Laurie and I are going into the city shortly. Throngs of people will be gathering by the Swan River throughout the day to celebrate Australia Day. There will be various modes of entertainment available all day. Unfortunately, it's going to be hot. It's forecast to be 39C - the Ambulance officers are going to be kept busy today. We won't be standing out in the hot sun for long!
The main attraction (for us, at least) will be the Skyworks, the annual fireworks display starting at 9.00 pm (used to be 8.00 pm before daylight saving...)
With the amount of people (200,000 - 300,000) expected to be there, parking, and public transport will be uncomfortable - and slow, particularly after the fireworks. So we'll be staying the night at a hotel. I'll be back tomorrow!
I'm taking the camera, and I'll attempt to take pictures of the fireworks. I'm not sure if they'll turn out OK or not. Time will tell!
