Well, here we are in the middle of our heat wave. Oh, joy.
I try not to go outside too often because it's just so uncomfortable out there. The air conditioner is certainly earning its keep, though we can't keep it on all the time. I'm not looking forward to the electricity bill!
I'm also getting a bit sick of the nights when the house is so hot inside. I don't think I could cope without the fan in the bedroom. The other night Laurie, for some unfathomable reason, turned it off! I woke up at 1.30 am covered in perspiration. Whew! *click* Back on and back to sleep!
Any attempts to coax cool outside air inside don't work. (But last night even that was futile as the outside air was almost as warm as it was inside...)

We've had only 7 days out of 28 with maximum temperatures of less than 30°C.
We went out to a picnic lunch on Australia Day (last Thursday) and met up with some of L's golf friends. Despite the high temperature, the shady trees made it reasonably bearable. However, it soon got uncomfortable, so we decided it was time to leave. When we got into the car, which was parked on a limestone-surfaced parking area, I took one look at the car's thermometer and had to take a photo. Sorry it's not of very good quality, but you can just see the temperature on the bottom right hand corner.
Yes, that's 44.5°C! This is the ambient temperature around the car, not inside. It would have been a lot hotter inside! It took a little while for the air conditioner to kick in. Even then, it was an uncomfortable drive home.
I know this run of hot weather will end, but while it's here it really wears you out.

ETA: The maximum temperature got to 42.1°C this afternoon. It's now 6.30 pm and still 37.0°C. :)
