Not having this cold

Guess which one is for today and which one is from July?

We certainly have a wide range of weather here...

I just realized I haven't updated my livejournal in ages. I have been terribly busy with school and work and all that. I graduate in May, so I have will be spending quite a bit of time applying for jobs (which is of course a full time job in itself.) A couple weeks ago, I was hired by IU to work as a full time staff member in the IT department for the School of Music. It's been really great because instead of working 4 part time jobs, I now only have one. I am in charge of computing support, which means I get to answer all of the faculty members' calls and emails whenever they have problems with their computer. It's a really great job because I get the opportunity to meet some really famous musicians. For example, I may being going over to Sylvia McNair's house next week to help her with her iPhone. How exciting is that? And she wants to pay me.... I should be paying her! On top of getting to meet all those famous faculty members, I have full benefits, all sorts of paid time off and paid holidays. Praise God for that.

I was invited to the University of Louisville for an interview for a faculty position in the music library. I went for my interview on Thursday, and this being my first library job interview I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I arrived on Wed. night and went out to dinner with 4 other people, which was very nice. On Thursday, I was in interviews all day, from 8:00-6:00. I met committee after committee and answered so many questions my head was spinning. I met the dean of the music school and the dean of the libraries, both of which were very nice. Actually, everyone I met there was exceptionally friendly to me, and I wasn't nervous at all after the first 20 minutes. I was really welcomed to their university. The position I applied for is a tenure-track position, hence the reason for all the meetings and interviews. They want to be sure that I am capable of fulfilling requirements for that, which are quite extensive. Everything went really, really well, and the director of the music library sort of hinted to me that I will be offered the job next week. I'm not sure how I feel about it, because I really really like my job at IU. However, I also really liked U of L and could totally see myself working there. So I guess we will see what happens with all this in the coming days...

Other than that, I am taking 3 hours and doing an internship. Its super stressful and super busy and I'm at school/work for about 12 hours every day, but it doesn't bother me so much because I know I only have to do it for 4 months and then I will be done with school FOREVER. No more degrees for James.

I'm sorry I was not able to come to Hammond during Christmas break. I was very, very ill with that horrible stomach virus that my entire family contracted, and was unable to do anything for over a week. I lost about 10 pounds in 5 days behind that virus. But all is well now, thankfully. Chuck, we will certainly have to go have double cocktails when I come visit in the summer to make up for lost time.

It has been unusually cold up here, and I am not having it. The wind chill is minus 25, which is beyond what words can describe. Well, I could think of one word, but I'm not gonna say it, because if you know me, you know what it is. I'll give you a hint... it begins with a "C." I'm ready for summer to hurry up and get here!

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm going to try my best to update my LJ more often.
