I had an office mate at JGI who had a really tall desk. So he could alternate standing at it versus sitting on a tall chair. It seemed like a good idea to me, although most of the other people there just thought it was weird.
At home, my mom had a stationary recumbent bike, with the back propped up on a chair (so it was tilted downward), and positioned under a tall drafting table. So she would have to pedal as she was sitting at her computer. You'd slide off the seat if you just tried to sit there with your legs dangling. I have no idea how well it worked since the pedals were adjusted for my mom.
I tend to sit crosslegged on any surface; or half crosslegged with one knee straight up by my chest. But sitting at a computer for long periods doesn't seem to bother me the way it bothers most other people. At OU I would drink a bunch of water at the fountain every time I came back from the bathroom; this ensured a fairly regular cycle of getting up and walking to the bathroom every hour or two (which happened to be up half a floor). Sometimes at home I try to refill a glass of water every time I get up for the same effect.
