(no subject)
am in Seattle with cool college friend who gets up early to buy me cupcakes and coffee. *loves* i'm looking forward to going to the UW to explore. the social work school is pretty prestigious, and i'm thinking of giving up on academia to become a bleeding-heart social activist. i think it's a fair trade. :-)
in other news, i'm loving my new job. i even get my very own stalker. *grins* okay, that was mean. she's not a stalker, she's just kind of obsessed with me. and not because i'm anything special--i'm not saying i'm that cool or anything. i think she's just in awe of the whole gay thing. mostly because she just crawled out from under the rock that is the backwoods of the Midwest and has never met a lesbian before. the kicker is that she really is SO GAY. M met her and the first thing she said to me after that conversation was, man that girl is SO GAY. so, yeah. i think she's a little obsessed with the gay thing because she is starting to subconsciously realize that she herself is gay and wants to know more about it. well, that's what i tell myself anyway to avoid the whole guilt thing of knowing at some point i might have to crush some tender feelings. argh. maybe she won't ever realize she likes me. on the other hand, the googly eyes and the constant flattering is kind of a give-away, even to someone in denial.
AT ANY RATE, i love my new job. despite the cubicle and the occasional lack of anything to do and the highly-anal payroll person, it's MILES better than what i was doing. i'm a writer! eee! *beams* of course, i've been using it as an excuse to slack on my fiction writing. *is sheepish* but i'm getting back on the band wagon on that score, too. it's just taking me a bit to get rolling.
oops. the shower's off. that means it's my turn. happy October 1st everyone! :-D
