Heh, I got out this morning and headed to Knoxville for a doc appointment and didn't hear anything about the weather until I was half-way there. Happily, my doc was at Cedar Bluff, so didn't have to deal with any of the multitude of wrecks in town. The only ice I encountered was in the parking lot at the doc's office.

Yuck. UT's alert system didn't even send out notice until about 7:30, when the first class is at 8:10. Not sure how the figured any commuter was going to get that in time.
Apparently Rural/Metro (K-ville's ambulance company) had 8 ambulance wrecks this AM (Matt texted me at some point).
Walking home I kept finding patches of slushy ice with water over them. Ewww.

IIRC, the local news this evening said there were something like 200 wrecks in Knoxville this morning because of the ice. Saw some footage where they had been out taping and it must have been really bad. There was one death here in Oak Ridge due to a truck sliding into a tree, one in Loudon County, didn't hear of any from Knox county. Looks like a lot of schools will be running 2 hrs. late tomorrow. UT does not yet appear to be one of those. All I can say? It's wet out and going to get below freezing tonight. Be very, very careful if you have to leave the house early tomorrow. Same goes for Matt :)
