I always thought that I would only get sick during the school year. In fall and spring. I don't think I've ever gotten seriously ill during summer. Except that one time when I got a bad staph infection, but that doesn't count. I wasn't ill so much as just itching like hell.
So this morning...make that yesterday morning (Monday morning) I woke up at almost exactly 0600 coughing up my lungs. Seriously. I was worrying about being able to breathe. When I get a really bad respiratory infection, that's been known to happen. But I haven't really been feeling ill of late. The most I've noticed was a pain in my left ear but I just figured that was from me jamming my iPod ear bud in when it kept falling out.
But this weekend was stressful beyond belief (suffice to say that my grandfather is in the hospital and I have an "emergency bag" packed with funeral clothes). So I smoked a few cloves. Considering it's been a few months since the last time I smoked one, I figured it would be fine. Except I smoked about half a dozen over the weekend. Cloves are extremely abrasive. You do the math.
And my bed back home is kinda lumpy and I was at a bad angle and there was a shit load of cat hair. I just figured it got tickled at a bad time. Then I started coughing at work today (away from the cat hair) and I felt a fever come and break. I went home early.
Now, I've been drinking tea like a madwoman but my throat still hurts, my head feels weird and I just generally feel like shit.
I'm gonna take tomorrow off work. No, I won't be reading Harry Potter. I still don't have a copy, though I've thought about getting the audiobook and listening to that. Except it would probably put me to sleep. No, tomorrow will be full of sleeping.
