I think I'm mostly settled back in College Station. I say mostly because I still haven't gotten the wireless router hooked up so I can access the internet from my computer in my room. Mind you, not because it's difficult, but because I'm lazy and just haven't done it. Yay for lazy!
Still no job yet. I was hoping for a security gig with a company here in town, but that kind of fizzled. I kept calling the woman back because it seemed like she wanted to hire me but she was busy. Then to she told me that one of the temp contracts expired and she was having a hard time placing the people she had already hired. It kind of irritated me because I could have been using that time for other job hunts. Of course, now that I've graduated, I'm afraid I'll run into the problem that I'm either vastly overqualified or just underqualified.
I'm kind of hoping now for a grad assistantship, either teaching or not. I could totally teach the freshmen about their government. I just have to figure out how those hirings are done. It's not immediately obvious on the school website, so I'm thinking I'll have to go through the Grad Studies office. Ah, bureaucracy.
In other news, I have finished my first book of the summer just in time for a new release by
sarahtales. I pimped it awhile back and I plan to gobble it up as soon as the USPS delivers it. *watches the mailbox expectantly* It's called The Demon's Lexicon and is a young adult fun read. Not tweeny YA, but late teens, twenties YA. If you see it, you should buy it and read it. Seriously.
In not so fun news, I went to the dentist for the first time in something like three years (what? I prefer to stick with ones I know and I could never get down to College Station) and they told me that I need a root canal. The very last tooth on my right top jaw had a big filling. Apparently, there was more decay and I managed to break off what was left of the tooth, but the filling is still intact! Don't ask me how. It's one of those wonderfully fun things that I do that cost me money. There's another tooth that I'll either have to get a massive filling in or another root canal. But the plan year is about to change over, so after deductible, more coverage by dental insurance! There are a couple of other spots that need to be filled, but those are the two big ones that made me and Mum's bank account cry.
Funny story, though: we were getting ready to do x-rays and my hygenist, Mary, is sticking the little thing in my mouth and stops and asks, "Do you have a tongue ring?" "It's a retainer." *blank look* "It's just plastic." "Okay." *funny look* Knowing that I had the trouble spot, I wore my flat retainer to make things easier to see and I'm not sure that she's ever seen the flat kind. Anyway, it was funny to me.
