.) Where do you work? Kansas State Correctional Facility
.) Is this a local or National company? Local in being a State of Kansas Agency
.) Does your company employ the use of Temporary or Placement agencies? No.
.) Are you able to visibly show your piercings and/or tattoos at work? Tattoos, yes, although there's probably something in the rules about tattoos that have 'inappropriate' content. Most tattoos are covered up by our uniforms anyway. Earrings, we're all (male and female) allowed to have one piercing in each ear. No other visible piercings allowed. This is partly a consistency of appearance thing, and largely a safety thing - if you end up in a fight, your piercings are gonna be GONE. Ow. And like I said, we're allowed to wear earrings, but almost no one does.
.) If so, is it frowned upon, encouraged, or simply tolerated? I wouldn't say tattoos are encouraged ... but nobody cares.
.) Are you allowed to have untraditional hair colour/styles? (Ie... black with fire engine red streaks/ purple mohawks/ emo kid hair/ etc.) No. Also not allowed to have hair past our collars. Women have to have either short hair, or put it up in a bun - not a ponytail. (Safety again.) Men ... I actually don't know if the same rules apply. We don't have any male officers with long hair, but I don't know if that's because it's not allowed, or because it's not worth the hassle they would get from the inmates.
