Interesting experience.
Background: Nick and I started going out as budding seventh graders on 11-27-99. We broke up for a few years in high school and got back together on 11-27-04. 11-27 is something we share, it's both a date and a symbol. 11-27 means everything about us, we can use it to say I love you, or use it in a low moment to captivate our heated history together. It evokes an emotion within both of us.
So recently Nick was reading some Dante Alighieri, the Florentine poet, and the book contained an image of an angel figure. She seemed to be flying, with an aura of mysticism surrounding her, thats the only way I can really describe the drawing. Underneath her feet read "11-27". He had it hanging on his wall over his bed.
While I was in Florence we went to an art gallery together, it was more of an exhibit. The artist refuses to put more than one piece of art work in one room, as he wants the experience of his piece to take up it's own space. The guys work was pretty intense, although he was a minimalist. So we are wandering in and out of these rooms, each taking our own time observing. We found ourselves both at this piece of art, it was literally like a magnet for us. We both had this hunch feeling, I looked at him and told him how the piece immediately reminded me of him for some reason. You ever have those moments? Where things are just unexplainable but make absolute sense. We should live on those tiny moments to steer us.
It was an iron sculpture of a human heart, roughly actual size, and the profound detail in the sculpture mimicked a heart so accurately. The heart was pressed between a vice, which was mounted between two walls so the piece was just above our heads.
Awesome moment: While staring at the piece we noticed that a thick book was pressed between the end of one side of the vice and the wall, acting as support for keeping the vice in place. Upon a closer glace, the book holding the vice in place was Dante Alighieri, the very same one which contained the mysterious angel 1127.
