I had the best evening yesterday and the best surprise today.
Yesterday was L's normal day to come over and spend time with Jamie in the workshop, trying to get her armor up to snuff and fit to her properly. I've been teaching her how to make an arming jacket but was in a mood, so I went ahead and sewed it to a fitting stage. Fitted it to her last night, so now I can finish it for her. But the really cool part was being able to sit down to dinner at the table. Jamie took a pork sirloin roast out of the freezer and I got it going. Seared it, put chicken stock in for it to braise, and added a bunch of baby potatoes of various colors. Scott took the drippings and made a kick-ass wine sauce for the pork. Nobdy thought of anything else so it was a meat and potatoes kind of night. =grin= And we sat at the table. YAY!!!!!
And today Bridget knocked on my door with some time to spend. More YAY!!!! Gads it was good to sit and chat about all kinds of things. I feel so invigorated after a visit with her. And yeah, enabled. She is, after all, my designated enabler.
We looked at a bunch of local quilt guilds, trying to find decent non-local speakers. We ar both kinda frustrated with our current guild. We have $100,000 in the bank and won't spend it on speakers. About half our meetings are member trunk shows, or vendors, or something like that. The other half seem to be mostly local. We have the money, why not spend it? At any rate, my calendar now has a list of local quilt shows. I plan to get to them so I can assess the guild itself. Are the members friendly? What's the age range? How are the quilting skills and styles? Do I think I might mesh well? See? She's my enabler and I love her!!
