Just got back from I Want to Believe.
It was ... kinda awesome. Not up to "Bad Blood" standards, of course (although, in
in my opinion, "Bad Blood" is the best hour of television in the history of television, so it's pretty damn hard to beat), but it was still pretty dang cool.
Aside from the big beats (namely, Mulder and Scully are living together, not married, and still calling each other "Mulder" and "Scully") -
--- When Scully and Mulder return to the FBI, they're standing in front of a door, with a picture of Dubya on one side and J. Edgar Hoover on the other, and the theme song starts up
--- The Poor Man's Daniel Craig: Callum Keith Rennie. Seriously, I knew it wasn't Daniel Craig, but he looks just enough like him to make up for the hideous beard Mulder sported for the first half of the movie.
--- A Beard! With a capital 'B'! Borrowed from both
Jack Shepherd and Jack Bristow! On Mulder! AWESOME!
--- Scully goes mental when Mulder goes missing (shocker, I know), and starts yelling at Xhibit, really slowly, like he won't understand her if she doesn't enunciate and speak loudly. I lean over to Amelia: "Scully, he's black, not stupid."
But if you're an X-Files fan - and not of the conspiracy crap, the monster of the week episodes - I'd definitely recommend going to see the movie.
At least at a matinee price.
