Ugly Betty and the show I'm surprised I love, Brothers and Sisters are returning, along with Grey's Anatomy. Also at no surprise, the Addison Montgomery led Grey's 2.0 has been renamed to Private Practice, and that has been scheduled for Wednesdays this fall. Which is AWESOME. I love Kate Walsh more than a straight girl probably should - she has easily joined the small amount of women I'd go gay for (previously, only Lena Olin). But this show will also have FRANCIE from Alias, and I'm a horrible person in that I can't remember her real name. But ... FRANCIE! If Francie turns evil somewhere mid-season, though, she is totally the Francinator again, and that would be beyond awesome!
Okay, moving on. Also renewed were the shows I don't watch: Men in Trees, Boston Legal, October Road, and Notes From the Underbelly.
New Comedies:
-- Miss/Guided, starring JUDY GREER (Yay! Kitty Sanchez returns!) as a woman who returns to her high school alma mater as a guidance counselor
-- Cavemen. Yes, ABC actually gave the Geico Cavemen a sitcom. No, I'm not watching it.
-- Sam I Am, starring Christina Applegate, and it has something to do with amnesia.
-- Carpoolers, about four guys on their daily commute. To which I say, seriously? They'll make a TV show out of anything!
New Dramas:
-- Private Practice
-- Dirty Sexy Money, and all I know is it stars Peter Krause of Six Feet Under and Donald Sutherland. Could be worth a look.
-- Pushing Daisies, about a guy who can bring people back from the dead in order to solve their murder, or something
-- Cashmere Mafia, starring Lucy Liu, trying to cash in on the Ugly Betty / Lipstick Jungle trend.
-- Women's Murder Club, based on the James Patterson thriller series.
-- Big Shots, starring MICHAEL VARTAN and Joshua Malina, the latter of which sadly never got to guest-star on Studio 60. But yay, Joshua Malina!
How I Met Your Mother was saved, so now I'll have to start watching that. Also saved, all three CSI's, so David Caruso is still paying that voodoo queen or something. NCIS, The Unit, Ghost Whisperer (!?), and Numb3rs were also saved. Canceled? Johnny O's show Jericho.
New Comedies:
-- The Big Bang Theory, which the AP reports is like a sitcom version of Beauty and the Geek
-- Viva Laughlin, starring HUGH JACKMAN, which is an American version of Viva Blackpool, and music will be involved. So, HUGH JACKMAN SINGING.
New Dramas:
-- Swingtown, starting in midseason and running uninterrupted. "The series is set in the shag-carpeted 1970s, with Chicago-area couples navigating the sexual freedom of the era." (From the AP article)
-- Cane, starring Jimmy Smits as the patriarch of a family sugar business
-- Moonlight, which actually sounds interesting: it's about a vampire in modern society.
New Reality:
-- Kid Nation, where CBS drops a bunch of kids in an abandoned New Mexico town and sees if they can create their own society without adult supervision. It's Lord of the Flies meets the desert! This could only end badly.
