"This is the biggest farce I've ever seen."

..."What about the Emmys?"
"I stand corrected."

The 2006 Emmy Nominations have arrived!

Total nominations for Arrested Development: 3
Total nominations for Grey's Anatomy: ... more than that
Total nominations for Veronica Mars: ... NONE. FUCKERS.
Total nominations for one Victor Garber: ...None, but strangely, I'm not as pissed this year as I was last year. And hey, there's always Justice next season. How many noms has William Peterson gotten for CSI?

How the hell did Kevin James get nominated? Oh, wait -- The King of Queens is a spinoff of Everybody Loves Raymond, so he gets the spot vacated by Ray Romano. Got it. And Charlie Sheen? Huh? Why is he nominated? I guess I'm asking, WHY THE HELL ISN'T JASON BATEMAN NOMINATED?!

I have a feeling the Kiefer may actually get an Emmy this year. Poor Peter Krause.

Okay, seriously? At this point in the game, I'm just going to say that there aren't enough comedic actresses working on television nowadays. Because why the hell is Jane Kaczmarek nominated again? As I said last year, Malcom in the Middle stopped being funny years ago. And Stockard Channing got her requisite nomination, though this time for Out of Practice. Wasn't that... cancelled?

Okay, I just figured out the trick to the Dramatic Lead Actress category...

Last year: Patricia Arquette, Glenn Close, Frances Conroy, Jennifer Garner, Mariska Hargitay

This year: Kyra Sedgwick, Geena Davis, Mariska Hargitay, Allison Janney, Frances Conroy

They must always nominate:
1. A female member of law enforcement who solves crimes in a funky way (Arquette, Sedgwick)
2. A former-Oscar-winner (Close, Davis)
3. Mariska Hargitay
4. Perennial also-ran / winner / fan favorite (Garner, Janney)
5. Frances Conroy

Wow. I hope Frances Conroy shows up on Justice next year, or this category gets all kinds of messed up.

And now, we come to Best Supporting Actor Comedy:

It's zero hour. End of the line. He's the firstborn, sick of playing second fiddle. He's always third in line for everything. He's tired of finishing fourth; being the fifth wheel. There are six things he's mad about, and he's taking over.

In other words, GOB GOT NOMINATED!!!!!! *Happy dance of joy! JOY!*

Which, of course, means that I have to make a Franklin doll by Emmy night so I can cheer him on. The only spoiler on the list could be Jeremy Piven from Entourage. Or possibly Bryan Cranston from Malcolm, but see my note about Jane Kaczmarek.

Hey, all you Alan Alda fans - he got nominated again! If he can beat out William Shatner and President Logan from 24, I'd say he's got another shot!

Okay, on first glance of the nominees, I saw that Sandra Oh got nominated for Grey's Anatomy. Which is awesome, for she is easily a favorite character, and an excellent actress. But on second glance: BAILEY got nominated. And Sandra Oh just lost her chance in my book. Bailey RULES, and should win. PERIOD. (Dr. Bailey is my homegirl. And I want that on a t-shirt.)

Also, Kyle Chandler was nominated for a guest Emmy for Grey's Anatomy, which is only fitting since he BLEW UP. But Desmond from Lost was also nominated, and I like love him, too. Hmm...

Congratulations to Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report! He was also nominated for best Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program. I ... guess The Colbert Report could be considered a Variety Program... The Colbert Report and The Daily Show were both nominated for Variety Programs as well. That'll be a fun showdown!

(Also, you can currently order your OWN Fake News is All I Need T-shirt on Glarkware.com. Also available is "Kappa Kappa Wong." I might get "Kappa Kappa Wong"...)

Comedy Series: Arrested Development was nominated again! Hopefully they'll give it to them because they were so awesome and unjustly cancelled. The only competition, in my opinion, would be Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Office. And Scrubs. But Two and a Half Men? In your dreams, Sheen.

Drama Series: Grey's Anatomy, The West Wing, House, The Sopranos, and 24. I'm guessing it'll be between West Wing and 24.

And, I would like to take one second and congratulate the nominatORS, for not filling the categories with James Gandolfini and Edie Falco and the rest of the male cast of The West Wing. Thank you for not making me feel as if I were back in 2001.

Okay, second's over.

In the lesser categories, I'm rooting for Bleak House in everything it was nominated because it was so awesome (even though I never finished watching it because I got to a part where I could believe that Esther would marry Jarndyce).

Oh, and Arrested Development's third nomination was for writing the finale ("Development Arrested"). Also nominated in writing categories was the Grey's Anatomy two-parter "It's the End of the World" / "(As We Know It)" (aka the one with the bomb in the person) and "Into You Like a Train," the one with the pole stuck between two people. Oh, but the final episode of Six Feet Under also got a nod, so... that may win.

Okay, I think that covers my initial reactions to the nominations. Tune in in September when I've thought about it a bit more, made some predictions, and promise tarring and feathering to any member who does not vote for Will Arnett to win.

Thank you and good night.
