here's a milestone worth documenting. tonight as i was driving my cab in the wee hours of the night listening to CBC Radio 3, my ears perked up as i heard the familiar high hat intro to knock knock ginger's most popular recorded song, Virginia Black. Now i'm used to hearing it on ckms where there's a mandate to play new local music, but this was different. it wasn't ckms. my eyes were quickly drawn to the car stereo display to see what station it was on, and after a double or triple take i felt a rush and a faint come over me as i confirmed that it was in fact playing not only nation wide on cbc radio 2, but also continent-wide on sirius satellite radio channel 94. instantly i was reminded of that old beach boys movie from the 80s that i remember oh so very well, when the boys are sitting in their convertible at foster's freeze hanging out like the kids did in the 60s, when their first song comes on the local radio station and they begin jumping and screaming for joy. well i wasn't driving a convertible, nor did i jump and scream, but it definitely felt like a great milestone, and i was certainly jumping and screaming inside my chest.
