and yeah, it's really important to pay attention to everyone else first, before yourself, in a group, when you're not the lead.. making sure that you're exactly with the drums and everyone else makes for a good, tight sound, especially on bass.. most people don't give enough credit to players who pay attention, but it makes the whole band sound and work better.
this is what bugs me about playing with a lot of people - they're so into their own shit, it's like standing in a room full of soloists fighting each other. i guess that's mainly a guitarist disease, but not exclusively by any means..
i didn't intend for that to be so long, it's just something i think about frequently, and rarely talk about.. i have a lot of experience playing in groups of all sorts and know a lot about how things work, and how things can work better.. jeeze,, am i still typing? ok.
