"Conjunctivitis of the Third Eye"

I got an e-mail from time_shark a little while ago letting me know he was accepting my weird fantasy poem "Conjunctivitis of the Third Eye" for Mythic Delirium. Woo-hoo! Good week. :)

I actually just wrote the first draft of this poem on Monday night, right after his poetry reading here on campus. I'd had the title floating through my head and the words spilled out after the reading. This poem was, almost literally, what happens when a Black Cat (ours) crosses the path of a Mike Allen poetry reading. The product was far and away the strangest verse I've ever written. (Alas, the Black Cat is not in the poem. She was the one who gave my poetic eye a case of conjunctivitis, which she's suffering in her left eye.)

I should try writing weird poetry more often.
