The Fifty-Two Catch-up - Books 34 to 44...

Oct 24, 2008 09:47

Having seen my reading in 2007 drop off to one or two books a month I set myself a goal, to read fifty-two books in one year. I fell slightly behind but due to Force Unleashed and a renew3ed interest in Star Wars I've made good progress on catching up...

Books 34 to 44... )

NJO was very hit and miss for me.

I'm just waiting for Legacy Of The Force: Invincible to come out in paperback.

I love the Zahn books. Never bothered with Republic Commando as I hated the prequel films.

I've ordered the Courascant Nights novels though.

The Truce at Bakura

Cracking book, one of the few franchise books that I actually thought captured the mythos.

Mad WW,

I hope you'll continue on with the Cale Trilogy. SW was my first novel and suffers a bit for it.

In any event, thanks for giving it a read.

Heya Paul,

It's not everyday an author drops by, hello ! :)

It's the other Sembia books that got in the way sadly, even though I carried on into The Shattered Mask I never finished it. I know what happens to Thamalon by the start of Twilight Falling but not how so I should really read them before continuing onto the Cale trilogy.

I shall try Shattered Mask again tonight and try to close the gap :) Does Cale appear as a background character in any of the novels written by the others ?

Very background until Lord of STormweather (by Dave Gross) where he plays a larger role (Dave conferred with me about that before writing LoS).

All that said, it is unnecessary to read all of the Sembia series in order to understand and (hopefully) enjoy the Cale Trilogy. Thamalon's fate is mentioned to provide context, but everything else is more or less standalone.

THAT said, I certainly don't want to discourage you from reading the whole Sembia series. Lots of readers really enjoy them.
