Initial reaction poll from mediacurves.com:
Predictably, McCain's saber rattling against Russia has terrified the independent voters. I am no fan of Putin, but I'm pretty shocked by the blatant Cold War strategies out of the mouth of a guy who claimed not ten minutes before we shouldn't come out and say you're going to follow assaults across Pakistan's border, instead we should just do it and not mention it in polite conversation. Also, a coalition of democratic nation states that exludes Russia? I thought that was called NATO? WTF, man?
While McCain was talking, I couldn't help think of this (NSFW)

Interesting debate, the most interesting portion was over dinner with Janeka and Sid. Sid was very angry about many things, but had not watched the news recently so Janeka and I spent most of dinner discussing current events with him and making him even more outraged. Apparently our combined excitement and interest in politics excited the two elderly women sitting at the table next to us, and inspired them to pay for our dinner. This is the kind of change that Obama inspires, the older generation reaching out to the younger, trusting that all is not lost, and maybe we might be able to fix the mess that their generation has left us with.
My only regret was not eating more.
The only thing I'll say about the debates is that both candidates were underwhelming. However, Obama did not need to be amazing, all he had to do was not look like the idiot McCain repeatedly tried to paint him as. It was quite obvious until the Georgia situation came up that McCain does not have a lot of facts on his side, so he has to resort to stretching the truth or outright lying.
When Georgia came up, it was clear that McCain is stuck in the Cold War and will gladly leap with both feet into a new one, despite his claim otherwise. Incidentally, Obama was almost as bad. His approach to Russia is milder in comparison, but still a little too stand-offish for my liking. By a little, I mean a lot. Georgia was not innocent by a long shot, and if they can't restrain themselves then hell no do I want their trigger happy asses in NATO.
And finally, since McCain's camp won't shutup about Obama's intimate ties to Fannie and Freddie, let's have a look at how intimate they really are.
