Distractions...

Today was Saturday - hooray!  That meant I got to sleep in, but it also meant I had less motivation to do things, which was sort of bad for the day's work ethic.  I ended up switching back and forth between Frankenstein and other random things.

I discovered, to my chagrin, that of the 26 episodes I have of Claymore, an anime series I thought about starting to watch today, I somehow managed to have downloaded the first 13 as raw versions by mistakes (i.e. no subtitles).  So that was a bit irritating, since the only methods I can use to re-download the correct versions require me to not be going through the proxy, as I had suspected.  : (  *sigh*

Anyway, I watched a couple episodes of Rumiko Takahashi Anthology, a series I bought last summer.  It was interesting, though not as capturing as perhaps I was hoping.  Of course, every episode stands alone so each would have to be really good in order to live up to the expectations I've been starting to get because of the caliber of the shows I've watched recently.

I also read through a several-volume manga series I probably downloaded last winter break.  It was fun, and actually pretty good despite being decently predictable.  I've been reading lots of first chapters of shoujo series recently because each monthly issue of Shojo Beat has had a preview for a new series nowadays, so I've been seeing more and more clearly the pattern of the genre.  That and the fact that it's a lot harder to find gems from within large numbers of scanlated yet not licensed manga means that I can't always trust that something I've downloaded will be very good.  So that was fun.
And now I'm looking ahead at tomorrow and cringing - I don't know how I'm going to manage to catch up to where I'm supposed to be on my reading... >.
