Visitor Parking

So say, hypothetically, that some friend just happened to be wanting to visit for a weekend and drove up to spend the weekend on campus.  Where would such a person park, and are there any other loose ends (like letting someone know you have someone staying in your room for a day or two)?

(A friend of mine is planning to visit in a couple weeks and I had no idea how this stuff works...)
