So much for the end of the week...
Today I had a long shift, but I spent nearly half of it manning the flatbed line, so it went quicker than I expected it to. Then, after work, I was hoping to get together with Jing, but I started reading Harry Potter and it just rolled and rolled... And now I've finally finished it!
I have to admit the middle of the beginning went rather slowly - that part where they're mostly sitting around. But once I got to a certain point, it drove straight to the end. Maybe I'll post more thoughts later... probably in a post devoted to it. Not tonight, though.
I also got to ransack disketeer's house in the pbp today, in a couple of posts that surprised me... I really don't know where I got it from. But *hopefully* it'll work.
I think I did more with this afternoon and evening than I give myself credit for... I rounded off my memorization of a song I've been practicing for fun on the piano today. I don't know how long it'll stick, considering that the chances are slim that I'll practice once I'm back at school, but the next time I sit down to play it I imagine a refresher will be all I'll really need. That finally rounds off seven pieces in my repertoire! There've been one or two other songs I've memorized and lost, but there are seven I could sit down and play right now (in no particular order): Surfing, Fur Elise, Right Here Waiting, Sound of Silence, Carol of the Bells, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, and Feelings (the recent addition). A couple of those are a bit rusty, but I could play them well enough.
It's satisfying to know seven pieces, I'm very bad at memorizing piano pieces... it takes playing it and playing it until I know it really well, then moving off of the written music a part at a time, looking back constantly, playing and playing, and then coming back a few months later and solidifying it *again.* And that's just for pieces that aren't too complicated and/or have a natural flow that my hands pick up quickly. But hey, it was the same thing with typing - the only way I learned to type fast was just typing a lot and over the years.
No work tomorrow, though the day is hardly free.
