2011

Hello all, hello 2011. My last post here was all the way back in April. Much has changed; I'm a civilian again, yay.

Leading up to my ORD, I taught quite a bit of tuition. My off + leave combi was too imba, I almost didn't have to report to camp at all until the final day. Back to tuition, sometimes I feel like a big cheat since my rates are so exorbitant. Any sense of guilt disappears once I'm paid though. Besides, I'm not that bad a teacher! Specialised in humanities lagi: Geog, lit, hist, SS, GP, econs, I can teach any. I'm left with only 1 student (the rest took their O's last year) so if anyone knows anyone who needs my help, do let me know!

After ORD, I disappeared for almost a month to Borneo (mainly Miri, Sarawak and Brunei) and KL with my family and army friends. Brunei and Miri were laidback chilling and honestly fun times with the whole gang. Got wasted at an awesome 6 star hotel. (Almost) got screwed for flaunting liquor publicly. Visited an abandoned theme park. Entered a cinema hall to find ourselves watching a completely different movie. Drove an open-top volkswagen at insane speeds. Caught our best sunrise ever. Massage and manjong. Rock band. Painful paintball. Feasting like kings almost every meal. The list goes on.

KL was just non-stop shopping. I definitely overspent. But it's fine, spending money gives me much pleasure haha. Made an arduous trip to the museums and the planetarium only to be somewhat disappointed. We even missed our timeslot to go up the twin towers. So we comforted ourselves with more good food and clothes. Failed to get past the fat bouncer at Zouk KL so we settled for bars and another club which had a sub-par fake Lady Gaga. The Thai massage on the last day before my army friends left was heavenlyyy. So my Mum and Sis joined me at KL later on. Our family friend's place was quite a mansion. Very comfortable stay there. There was where I had my luggage fiasco. I cabbed from the hotel to the house and amazingly left my luggage (laptop included) together with all my new purchases in the boot. Can you imagine the craziness when I realised this. Thank goodness for the driver's kind heart; he returned everything in one piece the next morning. I had to make sure I wasn't dreaming when I woke up to find everything back in my room.

Right now, I'm actually typing my office's Lenovo laptop heh. Interning at a Marcom deparment for 3 months until another good long holiday (Seoul, Bangkok, Taipei) after this. Went to Krabi last year too, that was good. Cliff diving there has got to be the scariest thing I've ever done. Diving at Dayang opened my eyes to the sport. Got my basic cert, so I'm looking to do my advanced some time before school starts, hopefully somewhere further. Argh, I need more $$$. I'll be doing Law and Business at SMU, so people in SG will still see me around heh. I'll also be stage managing an exciting Hamlet production in July so watch out for that!

It's been a slow morning, I think no one's really in the mood to work yet. I had a horrible countdown/weekend. Was sick and stuck at home eating porridge. Hence, 2011 doesn't feel like it has come actually; I haven't ushered her in yet! We'll all be celebrating our 21sts this year, feels kinda surreal. Okay, I'd better get back to work!
