Don't worry, you can still salvage those files if your hard-drive is still intact inside the laptop - just unscrew the bottom panel and remove it to store in an external HD cover (is cheap - less than RM100 for a good one)

With today's advancement, saving a laptop is much easier compared to last time >.> *eyes own's old laptop's burned battery* Hope Noa-tan's back soon~
