Suggestions Anyone?

May 04, 2007 08:21

I need to get away for a while to clear my head and recharge the batteries before summer school starts. I've been in a real funk lately.   But I can't afford to do anything expensive or lengthy.  If any of you have any suggestions of fun, inexpensive ways to take a mini-vacation, I would love to hear it.

And wish me luck ... my last final is today.

If you have a tent, or know someone who does and you can borrow it, there are quite a few of the campgrounds in the national forests and state parks that open in May. I don't know what the daily fee is there, (or even if there is one. in some states your current vehicle plates get you free admission).

Some campgrounds have 'cabins' etc, and you wouldn't need a tent. KOA campgrounds often have cabins and such, and many of them have pools and dining halls.

how short is "mini"? how far are you willing to drive?

You might be able to find a nearby writers retreat, or other similar thing focusing on hobbies you enjoy.

Staying at a bed&breakfast in a quaint town would be something I'd enjoy. Finding one that is reasonably priced is the tricky part.

Umm... well, normal people get drunk at Tijuana but I'm guessing that's not for you LOL I second Q's suggestion; a nice stay at some national park that's not affected by fires sounds great or perhaps a visit to some zen monastery to play Leonard Cohen for a couple days.
