Ugh, after 4 and a half hours of trying to go to sleep, I have given up. I keep thinking about tonight and a lot of the hands I played. I only had 2 real bad suckouts. The first was when a guy went all in. It was only about 11% of my chips to call, and to knock out a player it was worth it. I had QJ suited which is pretty good. He had AK, and the flop and turn were crap. I was about 14% to hit a Queen or Jack on the river and I did. Bad suckout for him, but I have seen worse. Then there was the final hand. I am positioned. He raises to 7k. I call. Flop is 9,2,4 with 2 spades. I have pocket 5's. I raise abother 5k to get out a flush draw. Then he goes all in. I think about it, and call because I have a pair higher than 2 cards on the flop. He has 6's, so I desperately need a 5 or runner-runner for a straight. I turn the 5 and the river is a blank. Those were the only two suckouts I had all night. I am proud to say that I played some really good poker. I am also very pleased at how my skills are progressing and I will hopefully take this somewhere, someday
The whole point of that was to reiterate an entry by my friend Becky. She says that people remember useless stuff. I am the posterboy of knowing absolutely useless stuff that truly will never be of any consequence. For instance, did you know that Vassilli Zaitsev had 243 kills accredited to him during the battle of Stalingrad? Did you also know that 1 minute of windage is 1 foot a bullet strays off it's path for every 100 feet traveled? These are all useless. Why do I know them? Because I just do. However, everyone knows useless stuff. It is in our nature I suppose. Some know more than others, but that is life. Needless to say I am happy knowing as much crap as possible. Not many people can say that they have most of the periodic table memorized including row, column, number, symbol, element, and atomic mass.
